Abstract:
PURPOSE:To keep maintenance-free capability and to increase high-temperature durability by forming a specific Pb-Sb-Sn alloy layer on the surface of a grid made of a specific Pb-Ca base alloy and by making the lateral length of a grid mesh longer than its longitudinal length. CONSTITUTION:A Pb-Sb-Sn alloy layer comprising 0.8-50wt.% Sb, 1.0-10wt.% Sn, and the balance Pb is formed on the surface of a grid made of a Pb-Ca base alloy comprising 0.02-0.15wt.% Ca, 0-5.0wt.% Sn, and the balance Pb. A grid in which lateral length of a grid mesh is longer than its longitudinal length is used, The maintenance-free capability of a battery is kept and furthermore its high-temperature durability is increased.
