PURPOSE: To obtain an air electrode, in which a coordination high-molecular compound of a transition metal homogeneously adheres to a carbonic body, by impregnating the carbonic body with both a solution containing ions of the transition metal and a specified low-molecular polydenate-group solution separately.
CONSTITUTION: A carbonic body is immersed in an aqueous solution containing transition-metal ions, such as aqueous copper-sulfate solution, and dried with air. After that, the carbonic body is immersed in an alcohol solution or the like of a low-molecular polydenate group which has not less than two chelate legnads such as dihydroxy phenazine so as to make an insoluble coodination high-molecular compound of a transition metal to adhere homogeneously to the carbonic body, thereby obtaining an air electrode. The air electrode obtained by the means mentioned above has an excellent polarization characteristic since the high-molecular complex containing the transition metal homogeneously adheres to the carbonic body of the electrode.
