PURPOSE: To generate a safe working environment using a simple means when scaffold for construction site is to be assembled from a plurality of unitary members and footboards which are laid in strata and When it is required to work on the footboard constituting the top Plate of the uppermost storey of scaffold.

CONSTITUTION: A gate-form handrail member 1 is installed between unitary members for assmbling scaffold which have been assembled and situated uppermost so that the horizontal handrail portion is positioned above a footboard 3 when such is installed in the uppermost storey of scaffold, and a new footboard 3 is mounted on the unitary member which is fitted with the handrail member 1. After this, another unitary member 2 for uppermore storey is erected while the mounted handrail member 1 is used as a safety device.
