Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a continuous sheet having uniform thickness and no hole by directly casting molten metal into the continuous strip of crystalline metal.
CONSTITUTION: The supply of the molten metal 22 into a caster 18 substantially horizontal to an adjacent shifting casting surface 24, is controlled. The molten metal surface level in the outlet end part approaches the crest part of a casting roll 36 and semisolidified cast strip 30 is separated in substantially horizontal direction from near the crest part of the casting roll 36. Secondary cooling is applied during carrying of the separated strip 30 to solidify the strip and thereby, the molten metal is directly cast to the continuous strip of the crystalline metal.
