Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain the subject compound in an industrially advantageous way by direct carbonylation of an aromatic hydrocarbon with carbon monoxide using liquefied or supercritical carbon dioxide as solvent in the presence of a specific complex catalyst. SOLUTION: This compound is obtained by direct carbonylation of a 6-20C aromatic hydrocarbon (e.g. benzene) as raw material with carbon monoxide using supercritical or liquefied carbon dioxide as solvent in the presence of 0.001-5 mol.% of a catalyst, i.e., a transition metal (pref. rhodium) complex with at least one ligand being a monophosphine compound of the formula R<1> R<2> R<3> P (R<1> , R<2> and R<3> are each an alkyl, aryl, etc.) or biphosphine compound of the formula R<4> R<5> P-A-PR<6> R<7> (R<4> , R<5> , R<6> and R<7> are each an alkyl, aryl, etc.; A is an alkylene, cycloalkylene, etc.) [e.g. RhX(R<1> R<2> R<3> P)3 (X is H, a halogen, OH, etc.)] while irradiating the reaction system with rays 200-800 nm in wavelength.
