Abstract:
PURPOSE: To use the pattern recognition device generally for all objects to be recognized by extracting only effective feature quantities from feature quantities by using data to be learnt, classifying patterns by using a mathematical expression in which the extracted feature quantities are represented as input variables, and learning the mathematical expression. CONSTITUTION: The output signal of a sensor part 0 is inputted to a feature quantity arithmetic part 1 to calculate many feature quantities including both effective and ineffective quantities for the classification of respective objects of pattern recognition. The values of all feature quantities of samples used for learning from the feature arithmetic part 1 and desired evaluated values of sample patterns from an input terminal are stored in a data base 2. An effective feature quantity extraction part 4 extracts only effective feature quantities from the feature quantities by using them. The mathematical expression in which the extracted feature quantities are represented as input variables is used by a pattern recognition arithmetic part 5 for pattern classification and a learning execution part 6 learns the mathematical expression. Therefore, the device can by used generally for any object to be recognized.
