PURPOSE: To eliminate the need of producing an entire bearing for a thermal fixing roll with an abrasion resistant material, especially to facilitate the production if the bearing and to reduce the cost by separately constituting only the part of the bearing of the thermal fixing roll which receives strong pressing moment on the surface of the thermal fixing roll of the abrasion resistant material.

CONSTITUTION: This fixing device 10 is provided with the thermal fixing roller 12 incorporating a heat source 11 and thermally fixing an image 4A and both ends of the roller 12 are rotatably provided with the bearings 13 and 14. A pressurizing roller 15 is brought into press-contact with the roller 12 by the elasticity of a spring 19 in a direction shown by the arrow. Thus, the roller 12 to which the roller 15 is pressed from below is pressed to the bearings 13 and 14 with load distribution in a specified direction. The abrasion resistant materials 13A and 14A are separately provided in the bearings 13 and 14 receiving the load distribution. Since the abrasion resistant materials 13A and 14A are provided only at the part receiving the strong pressing moment by the roller 12, the bearing is not abraded even in the case of receiving the strong pressing moment because the roller 12 rotates to perform the thermal fixing operation of the image 4A on recording paper P.
