PURPOSE: To prepare a document including the ruled lines without increasing the quantity of data by synthesizing a ruled line block with a text block and preparing the document including the ruled lines with use of the character information only.

CONSTITUTION: The size of a desired ruled line block is designated with a prescribed operation of a keyboard 5. A CPU 8 of a terminal equipment fills the block of the designated size with the blank characters in the designated direction. Then, the CPU 8 adds the attributes of the underline display to all blank characters in the block. Thus, a ruled line block is formed. Then, a desired block size is designated and the text characters are inputted. Then, the terminal equipment prepares a block for the text character information with its operations. The desired ruled line block to be synthesized is selected and a position where this selected block is superposed on the text block, is designated. Thus, the terminal equipment superposes the ruled line block on the text block as designated and then synthesizes the images.
