Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the density unevenness of an image by obtaining the ion stream passage characteristics of each ion stream passage hole on an ion stream control substrate through measurement of an ion current vale and correcting a recording signal based on the ion current value. CONSTITUTION:An ion stream generating near a corona wire 2 is caused to pass through an ion stream passage hole 6 only during the time equivalent to a pulse width T of a pulse voltage 8. Then the ion stream is projected to a recording medium 7 to visualize a surface charge image. Thus a visible image is obtained. However, the pulse width T should be set so that the unevenness of the ion stream passage amount due to the irregularity of the precision of each ion stream passage hole 6 is compensated for. That is, the ion stream 14 is allowed to pass by giving the potential parameters of an ion stream passage condition to each ion stream passage hole 6, and is received by a measurement electrode 13 to read a current value I. This current value I is stored in ROM 12 and each pulse width is set so that it is inversely proportional to the current value I at each ion stream passage hole 6. Consequently, the ion stream current passage amount becomes the same and an image almost free from a density unevenness is obtained.
