PURPOSE: To achieve higher heat resistance and durability and a less weight by arranging a hollow cylindrical member made of metal having openings at both ends thereof while one end f the hollow cylindrical member is made tapered while a closing member is provided at both ends of the hollow cylindrical member to close the openings.

CONSTITUTION: The body 1 of chopsticks is made up, for example, of a metal tube 2 made of stainless steel, aluminum or the like to be open at both ends thereof as hollow cylindrical member and the metal tube 2 is so formed to be tapered gradually toward the tip thereof from the middle thereof 2 with a drawing machine on one end side thereof 2. An opening 8 with a smaller diameter is formed on the side of a tapered part 6 at both ends of the metal tube 2 while an opening 8A with a larger diameter is formed on the side of a grip part 7. The openings 8 and 8A are closed with a fine wire 9 and a lid body 10 separately as a closing member. This enables the forming of the metal chopsticks body 1 with excellent heat resistance and durability. The chopsticks body 10 itself is of a hollow structure and convenient to handle with less weight by minimizing material for making.
