PURPOSE: To uniformly disperse friction material ingredients, prevent the variation in strength and improve the stability of the effect, the abrasion resistance, etc., by incorporating friction dust comprising a heat-resistant resin raised with heat-resistant organic fibers into a friction material.
CONSTITUTION: Friction dust comprising a heat-resistant thermosetting or thermoplastic resin is mixed with heat-resistant organic fibers (e.g. nylon fibers) to produce friction dust comprising the heat-resistant resin raised with the heat- resistant organic fibers. It is suitable that the amount of the organic fibers is about 1-30wt.% based on the weight of the friction dust. The obtained friction dust is mixed with friction material ingredients, such as a thermosetting resin, a friction modifier, metal fibers, heat-resistant organic fibers, and inorganic fibers, to produce a friction material. The use of the raised friction dust comprising a heat-resistant resin can prevent the segregation of the friction material constituents and can impart elasticity.
