PURPOSE: To prevent the disturbance in the coupling particularly between electronic circuits and mechanical systems during the actual operation by the user, by making a timepiece having multiple functions including a chronograph function in analog quartz easier to operate.

CONSTITUTION: When the user starts a chronograph (CG) by pressing a switch 7 while a switch 6 is open, a signal D1 operates a switch 30 to start a clock counter 11, and a motor driving circuit 19 and a motor A20 are started by a driving control circuit 15, then the measurement of the fine measuring time is started. A switch 8 is a reset function in CG, and when the switch 8 is set to High t, the output D2 of a control circuit 10 resets the counter 11 and a hand position counter 14 at 0, and operates the circuit 15 so that the hand of a display A21 is fast fed to a 0 position. If a switch 9 as split is activated, a latching circuit 12 is operated by a signal D3 with a switch control circuit 10, and the circuit 15 operates to stop temporarily the motor 20, thereby holding the display hand 21 of the chronograph stopped temporarily.
