PURPOSE: To expand a range of coating operation conditions capable of attaining excellent coating.
CONSTITUTION: In the device in which an upperstream side lip 24 and a downstream side lip 25 are provided and a slot part 26 capable of extruding a coating liquid 22 between these lips is formed and the coating liquid 22 is applied on a web 21 running opposite the upperstream side lip and downstream side lip, a coating work surface 29 coming into contact with the coating liquid opposite a supporting body is formed at the downstream side lip forming a curved projection toward a supported body side. Thus, when tension of the supporting body is defined as T, and pressures that the coating liquid exerts on the supporting body respectively at an upperstream end B and a downstream side end C of the coating work surface are defined as P1 and P2, the curvature K of the prescribed curved coating work surface is set to P2/T≤K≤P1/T.
