PURPOSE: To lower the yield point of a cold rolled ferritic stainless steel strip, to reduce the yield elongation, and to improve the rust resistance by heating the strip to a prescribed temp. and cooling it under prescribed conditions.

CONSTITUTION: A hot rolled ferritic stainless steel strip is cold rolled. This cold rolled strip is heated to 800W950°C, and it is rapidly cooled to 650W750°C, held at the temp. for 20secW5min, and air-cooled to ordinary temp. A strip with a low yield point, ≤0.5% yield elongation and superior rust resistance is obtd.
