Abstract:
PURPOSE:To efficiently recover valuable merals from a V-contg. waste cataylst by oxidative roasting the catalyst; adding predetermined Na salts; calcining the salts- added, roasted product to convert the V into its water sol. salt; and separating the salt by elution. CONSTITUTION:The title waste catalyst over which valuable metals such as V and Ni have been deposited is discharged from a process for hydrogenating heavy hydrocarbon oil. It is oxidative roasted above 300, pref. 300-900 deg.C to remove S and C. To the roasted product are added NaCl or/and Na2SO4 in the atomic ratio of Na/V>=1. The NaCl or/and Na2SO4 -added, roasted product is then calcined at 700-1300 deg.C to convert the V contained into water sol. sodium vanadate, and water or the like is added to separate the vanadate by elution. The residue after the elution is reacted with an aq. soln of alkali to separate slightly water sol. residue contg. Mg and Ni as well as to elute Si as a sol. silicate. The Ni, etc. are then recovered.
