PURPOSE: To prevent chipping, breakdown, etc., and to manufacture a magnetic head having extremely narrow track width, by forming one groove, and thereafter, performing glass molding into its groove, and subsequently, forming the other groove.
CONSTITUTION: A groove 2 of a prescribed shape is cut and formed by a grind stone, etc. in a prescribed position of a block base material 1 of a prescribed shape, glass molding is performed into the groove 2, and the adjacent part of the groove 2 is reinforced. Thereafter, a groove 3 of a prescribed shape is cut and formed by separating it from the groove 2 by a distance corresponding to prescribed track width Tw, glass molding is performed into the groove 3, and the adjacent part of the groove 3 is reinforced. Accordingly, a magnetic head 4 is reinforced and supported by glass 2' in the course of cut-working of the groove 3, therefore, chipping and breakdown in the magnetic head part are prevented, and a magnetic head having sufficiently narrow track width can be manufactured exactly.
