PURPOSE: To obtain the titled pellet capable of producing glass fiber-reinforced polyolefins having excellent physical properties, by blending glass fiber with a modified polyolefin fiber, heating the fiber blend at a temp. not lower than the melting point of the polyolefin fiber and cutting it.
CONSTITUTION: A glass fiber strand 1 and a modified polyolefin fiber strand 2 are guided by means of guides 3, 4, respectively, and blended together. The blending ratio of the glass fiber and the polyolefin fiber is pref. 60W80wt%. The fiber blend 10 is led to a heating roller 5 to preheat it and then the modified polyolefin fiber is molten in a heating oven to impregnate the glass fiber with the modified polyolefin. The resulting glass fiber leaving the oven 6 is cooled in a cooling device 7 to solidify the polyolefin. The glass fiber to which the modified polyolefin has been fused is guided to a cutter 9 by means of a feed roll 8 to cut it in lengths, whereby master pellets of the glass fiber-reinforced polyolefin resin can be obtd.
