Abstract:
PURPOSE:To increase the life of an O-ring, in a roof-typed groove in which the O-ring is housed, by arranging dimensions of said roof-typed groove with the width to about 1.7 times a diameter of the O-ring and the depth to about 0.7 times the diameter in both ends of the groove while equal to the diameter in the central part. CONSTITUTION:An O-ring 1 is housed in a roof-typed groove, and the roof- typed groove is formed to a dimensional shape such that a sloped angle alpha of the grooove is about 20 , and width C of the groove is about 1.7 times a diameter W of the O-ring 1, while depth of the groove is about 0.7 times the diameter W in both ends of the groove and equal to the diameter W in the central part. As a result, the O-ring 1, when not is use, can be released from compression and returned to almost a circular section of free shape.
