Title:
MAGNETIC CARD AND CARD READER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0776193
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent forgery or illegal use of a card based on decoding of a bar code by providing the bar code printed on the card to be impossible to be identified.

CONSTITUTION: A magnetic layer 1B2 is formed on a base material 1B1, a bar code 1C is recorded on the layer via an infrared absorbing member, a pseudo-bar code 1D is recorded on the magnetic layer of a magnetic card in which a bar code protective layer 1B3 and an overcoat 1B4 are sequentially formed on the magnetic layer, and only the code 1C is detected by a card reader. As a result, even when the protective layer, etc., is rubbed with a file and the bar code is exposed and visually recognized, the pseudo-bar code is also visually recognized in addition to the bar code, and hence there is no fear of decoding only the bar code, and accordingly forgery or illegal use of the card can be prevented.
