PURPOSE: To provide an upsetter which provides a large space for exchanging dies and permits easy exchanging operation of the dies by supporting pivotally a horizontal shaft which is the fulcrum for opening and closing of a grip tongue to a sliding body on a bed so that the grip tongue can be largely retreated.
CONSTITUTION: An upsetter A supports pivotally a horizontal shaft 3 providing a fulcrum for opening and closing of a grip tongue 2 to a sliding body 35 by connecting freely turnably one end of a bed 1 and the grip tongue 2 and is provided respectively freely attachably and detachably with dies 4, 5 to the other end side of the bed 1 and the tongue 2 where the two ends thereof face each other. Said upsetter is provided with an upsetting mechanism 19 attached with a freely insertable and removable punch 22 to a sliding block 20 to said dies 4, 5 and is so constituted as to exert the die closing force to said dies by extending a pull rod 26. The eschange of the dies 4, 5 with such upsetter A is accomplished by resting the die 5 on the tongue 2 side on the die 4 on the bed 1 side, moving the body 35 in the counter axial direction of the punch along the sliding rail 41 on the bed 1 by a driving body 36 and retreating largely the tongue 2 which is kept lifted. The dies 4, 5 are thus easily exchanged.
