PURPOSE: To provide possibility of replacing the tool holder only through a cycle of elevation and sink of a tool bar, by arranging a swirling tool holder magazine provided with many sockets for tool holders in such a way that the magazine can be engaged at the top elevated position of the tool bar.
CONSTITUTION: A magazine 14 to support a tool holder 15 is arranged in such a way as swirling round a column 5 to hand over the tool holder 15 to the tool bar 10 at the top elevated position of the tool bar 10. The tool holder 15 is equipped with ridges 27 at the four edges of the oversurface, and a groove 29 is provided at the tapered part 28, projecting at said oversurface, in order to permit swirling of the magazine 14 in the circumferential direction. When a process of machining is completed and the tool bar 10 is elevated from the machining position, this location will become naturally the tool replacement position, and after indexing for a desired holder 15 by turning the magazine 14 the holder 15 is fitted on the tool bar 10, and then the tool bar is put down to the machining position.
