PURPOSE: To obtain the titled copolymer having improved fluidity, rigidity and impact resistance, by copolymerizing propylene (P) in a polymerization system containing a small amount of ethylene (E), and copolymerizing the E with P in the same polymerization system.
CONSTITUTION: Propylene (P) is homopolymerized or copolymerized with a small amount of ethylene (E) in the presence of a stereoregular catalyst, e.g. (C2H5)3 Al-TiCl3, to give 95W70wt%, based on the total polymer, polymer having 85W 95% content of a residue after extracting with boiling n-heptane. Ethylene (E) is then copolymerized with propylene (P) to give 5W30wt%, based on the total polymer, copolymer having (20/80)W(80/20) reaction weight ratio between the E and P. Thus, the aimed copolymer having ≥10 melt flow index and ≥100% elongation at break is obtained.
