Abstract:

PURPOSE: To quickly defrost and dissipate steam through the preferential supply of heat to a central part which is highly frequently used as a mirror and to improve visual confirming ability for rear conditions and safety of a vehicle, by causing a metallic film to additionally function as a heater film.

CONSTITUTION: A metallic film 1 for reflecting incident light is vacuum-deposited on the back of a glass base plate, and a center electrode 3 and an outer peripheral electrode 2, and a power can be fed from a power source mounted on a vehicle, where necessary. This causes light to enter from the surface of the glass base plate and the reflected by the surface of the metallic film 1, and a titled mirror performs a role as a mirror. Through application of a voltage between the electrodes 2 and 3 during dissipation of steam and defrosting, the metallic film 1 generates heat to heat the glass base plate.
