Title:
PREFOAMED PARTICLE OF POLYETHYLENE RESIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6065037
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: The titled prefoamed particles which has excellent shock absorbing characteristics and extensibility, and can produce in-mold foam moldings, comprising a crosslinked linear low density polyethylene having a specified degree of crosslinking.

CONSTITUTION: A linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) having a density ρ of 0.915W0.94g/cm3 and 8C or lower branches is crosslinked by the treatment with a chemical crosslinker or electron beam radiation so as to give a degree of crosslinking represented by the equation [where GF is gel fraction, %]. Then, the above LLDPE and a blowing agent (e.g. carbon dioxide or propane) in an amount of about 0.15W4mol per 100pts. LLDPE, are dispersed in a dispersing medium (e.g. water or ethylene glycol). After heating the dispersion in a vessel at temperatures in a range of 5°C below to 30°C above the melting point of the crosslinked LLDPE, the contents are discharged into the air to produce prefoamed particles of polyethylene resin.
