PURPOSE: To make easier the cleaning of residual toner without the influence of the residual toner on magnetic head by providing the magnetic head and a toner holder opposed against each other in relation to a recorder.

CONSTITUTION: A recorder 12, in which a vertical magnetic anisotropy layer 11 is provided on a non-magnetic supporter 10, has a magnetic head 13 on its one side and a toner holder 17 on its other side. When a signal is given to the coil 16 of the magnetic head 13, magnetic force line from the main magnetic pole 14 passes through the recorder 12 and a magnetic toner layer 18, through the toner holder 17 consisting of a high-magnetic permeable material, and again through the toner layer 18 and the recorder 12 into an auxiliary magnetic pole 15, forming an enclosed magnetic path 20. Thus, magnetic latent image recording can be effectively made for the vertical magnetic anisotropy layer 11 and the development can be made on the other face in an improved manner. A simpler cleaner 32 may be used.
