PURPOSE: To provide a titled soft nitrided steel having excellent soft nitriding properity and high strength, more particularly high internal strength after a soft nitriding treatment in a low alloy soft nitrided steel consisting essentially of C, Cr and Al by incorporating respectively prescribed ratios of V, Ti, Zr, Nb+Ta and S.

CONSTITUTION: A low alloy soft nitrided steel consisting essentially, by weight %, of ≤0.5% C, ≤3% Cr and 0.02W0.5% Al, and incorporated therein with ≤3.5% Ni, ≤1.5%, ≤1.5% Mn, ≤1.5% Cu, etc. is prepd. Such soft nitrided steel is incorporated therein with ≥1 kind among 0.01W0.5% V, 0.01W0.5% Ti, 0.01W 0.5% Zr, and 0.01W0.5% Nb+Ta and is regulated ≤0.010% Si, by which the intended low alloy soft nitrided steel is obtd. A steel blank material, part or product having the above-described characteristics and having fully satisfactory wear resistance and strength is obtd. from such soft nitrided steel.
