PURPOSE: To provide heat-sensitive recording paper in which discoloration due to chemicals or oils and background fog are controlled, obtained by providing a coating layer containing a polyhydroxy compound and a fluorine surfactant on a heat-sensitive color forming layer containing an electron donor dye and an org. acid as color forming components.
CONSTITUTION: For example, a substantially colorless electron donor dye, e.g., 3-diethylamino-6-chloro-7-(β-ethoxyethyl)aminofluoran, and an org. acid (e.g., bisphenol A) are separately added to a dispersion medium containing 2W5wt% water-soluble polymer such as PVA to be dispersed by a ball mill. The obtained dispersions are mixed and applied to a support such as paper to form a heat- sensitive color-forming layer. On this color-forming layer, a coating layer pref. containing a polyhydroxy compound (pref., PVA with a saponification value of 90mol% or more and a polymerization degree of 1,000 or more) and a fluorine surfactant (pref., perfluoroalkyl phosphate shown by the formula) in a wt. ratio of 100:3W20 is provided.
