PURPOSE: To make easily and selectively products having requested sheet widths by disposing rolls which roll only the part near the transverse center of the sheet material in extreme proximity to the inlet side of cross rolling rolls and rolling the sheet material.

CONSTITUTION: Horizontal rolls 3 which roll longitudinally the material near the transverse center of the sheet material are disposed just before the inlet side of cross rolling rolls 1, 2 disposed with inclination by α° in the angle between a pass line center C and the shaft (d) of width adjusting rolls. A rolling material S is rolled by the rolls 3 and is cross rolled by the rolls 1, 2 right after said rolling. The central part of the sheet material is held restrained by the rolls 3 and therefore the rolling material is prevented from hunting.
