PURPOSE: To improve accuracy of the captioned electrode plate by forming a transmission hole for an electron beam in a photosensitive glass substrate by a photoetching method for an apertured electrode for flat plate-shaped cathode-ray tube, and providing an electrode formed by a metal film only on the transmission side surface.
CONSTITUTION: A flat plate-shaped cathode-ray tube comprises an electron beam generating part 21, a deflection part 22, a color selection part 24, and a face part 26 comprising red, green, and blue fluorescent material stripes. For the color selection part 24, electron beam transmission holes 15 having the same pitch as a fluorescent material pitch are formed in a photosensitive glass substrate 11 by a photoetching method. Then, after the whole surface of the glass substrate is coated with a metal film 13, the metal film 13 is removed from both surfaces of the substrate 11, whereby an electrically independent electrode is formed only on the side surface of the transmission hole 15. In addition, the respective electrodes are wired by common connection lines 14AW14C on every third electrodes. Thus, an apertured electrode can be formed with ease, which is large in mechanical strength and high in dimensional accuracy.
