PURPOSE: To obtain a friction material useful as disc brake pad, brake lining, etc., reducing failure caused by fusing even in braking at high temperature at high speed or under high load, containing a specific amount of dust resin having specific particle size.

CONSTITUTION: The objective compound containing 2-50wt.% dust resin having ≤49μm particle diameter. A fibrous substance such as ultrafine titanium oxide, copper fiber, brass fiber, steel fiber, aramid fiber, calcium silicate fiber or carbon fiber and a binder resin such as cashew modified, rubber modified or alkyl modified phenol resin or melamine resin or epoxy modified phenol resin are used as the composition.
