PURPOSE: To attain scanning of read even during afterglow time of other light sources by providing an afterglow component eliminating means eliminating a signal component due to afterglow from a picture signal after photoelectric conversion to a color picture reader.

CONSTITUTION: Picture signals 22, 23 outputted from an image sensor are inputted to a switch circuit 25, and the path is changed over alternately in synchronizing with a scanning start signal 21. The picture signal 22 subject to photoelectric conversion at lighting of a blue fluorescent light is inputted to an analog delay element 26, where the signal is delayed by a half line's share. The picture signal 22 after the delay is inputted to the 1st subtractor 27 and a multiplier 28 for C2 multiple. The picture signal 23 whose signal level is multiplied by C1 at a C1 multiple multiplier 29 is inputted to the 1st subtractor 27, where the arithmetic is performed and from which a voltage VB of a blue picture signal after correction is obtained.
