Title:
OPTICAL DEMULTIPLEXER AND MULTIPLEXER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6026907
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an optical demultiplexer and multiplexer which eliminates the need for adjustment of optical path with a simple construction and permits reduction in size and packaging area by forming a plane shape into a polygonal shape and optically required four side planes perpendicularly to the bottom plane and fixing respectively interference film filters having different functions onto the two desired side planes.

CONSTITUTION: Optical glass 31 is formed by having four side planes, i.e., the 1stW4th side planes 31a, 31b, 31c, 31d and filters 32, 33, 34, 35 are fixed and disposed to ssid planes then the output signal light λ1 from the filters 34, 35 is outputted with the optical axis thereof in extreme proximity to the common optical axis of the input signal light λ1, λ2 and at the same time the need for adjusting the optical path in the glass 31 is eliminated. The assembling work of an optical demultiplexer and multiplexer 30 is made extremely easy by setting the 3rd plane 31c of the glass 31 as a reference plane. The main part is thus formed into the monolithic construction consisting principally of the glass 1 in the above-mentioned way, by which the construction is made simple and the need for adjusting the optical path is eliminated.
