PURPOSE: To provide easily and inexpensively a titled piston having higher adhesion between a ring carrier and a base material by embedding the ring carrier of an Al alloy having a specific compsn. contg. Si, Cu, Mg, Ni, Fe in an Al alloy by casting of molten metal.
CONSTITUTION: A ring carrier 5 consisting of an Al alloy composed of 17W 30wt% Si, 0.8W5.0% Cu, 0.5W2.0% Mg, 1.0W3.0% Ni, ≤1.0% Fe and the balance Al is fitted into a groove 4 formed of the notch at the top end of a stationary die 1 corresponding to the head part of the piston in the dies of a high-pressure casting machine and the bottom end part of a movable die 3, and after movable die 6 as a core is fixed, a base material 8 for the piston of an Al alloy is fed through a runner 2 and is cast under the pressure exerted thereon. The material 8 and the carrier 5 which are cast to one body are removed from the dies, and are machined after T6 treatment, whereby the Al alloy piston having grooves 11, 12, 13 for a top ring, second ring and oil ring is obtd.
