PURPOSE: To provide the titled typewriter enabling automatic correction in excess of a range corresponding to one line and excellent in manipulatability, constituted by providing memory storing character numbers corresponding to a plurality of lines generating no error in a moving amount in returning paper feed.
CONSTITUTION: The character inputted by the character key of a keyboard 30 is printed on recording paper by an ink ribbon and the character information thereof is stored in an editing buffer 40. The buffer 40 has memory capacity of character numbers (n) characters corresponding to a plurality of lines generating no error in a moving amount in returning paper feed. A character code is successively erased from one precedingly inputted every when the character code is inputted in excess of (n) characters and, when there is an input line in excess of (m) lines, a line preceding at every input is successively erased. Automatic correcting function can be enlarged to a plurality of lines.
