Abstract:
To provide a tool for holding and conveying a glass base material, whose material quality has been improved so as to suppress the oxidation of tungsten and avoid the accumulation of excess tungsten oxide and which is excellent in release property and is able to prevent lowering of the quality of a formed product.
The tool body 5 of the tool for holding and conveying the glass base material 3 is formed from an alloy containing tungsten as a main component and chromium added. The surface, except a contact surface 9 brought into contact with the glass base material 3, of the tool body 5 of the tool is covered with a heat resistant coating layer 6.
