Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool for installing a vane, which tool is used for properly positioning a stator vane when the vane is attached to an engine case.
SOLUTION: A pneumatic press type vane lifting installation tool is formed of two tubes that are expandable and substantially semi-circular, and are disposed between a rotor assembly and a vane assembly when the vane assembly is installed. Each tube 42 is positioned to be brought into contact with an inner end of a vane in the vane assembly. The tubes 42 are expanded to exert lifting force on the vane, and the vane is attached to the engine case.
