To provide a tooth row image reader which is compact and inexpensive and can precisely read the image of the whole outer side face of a tooth row.
This reader is provided with an intra-mouth cavity insertion part 111 to be inserted between a cheek and the tooth row and an image pickup optical part 121. The part 111 has a light translucent part 115 at a part along the outer side face of the tooth row and is provided with a hollow part 112 inside. The part 121 is provided with a cold cathode tube 122 which can be inserted into the hollow part of the intra-mouth cavity insertion part and irradiates the outer side face of the tooth row with light transmitted through the light translucent part, a reflection mirror 123 for reflecting light from the outer side face of the tooth row to the outside of the intra-mouth cavity insertion part, a scanning mans 131 for moving a light source and the reflection mirror along the outer side face of the tooth row and an image pickup optical system 141 for photodetecting the light reflected by the reflection mirror.
