Title:
TORQUE DETECTOR FOR BICYCLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3421471
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the size and weight of torque detector while increasing the degree of freedom in the design by mounting the torque detector on the rear axle.
CONSTITUTION: A sprocket 8 for drive chain is carried rotatably on the rear axle 7 of a bicycle and a planetary gear 22 is pivoted with the sprocket 8 as a carrier 20. An internal gear 25 meshing the planetary gear 22 is provided rotatably by a predetermine angle with respect to the body and a sun gear 16 meshing with the planetary gear 22 is fitted rotatably only in one direction with respect to the rear wheel hub through a one-way clutch. A conversion arm 36 rotatable within some range while being engaged with the outer end part of an arm 27 formed integrally with the internal gear 25 is provided to come into pressure contact constantly with the outer end of the arm 27 through spring force and the action of the conversion arm 36 is detected by means of a potentiometer 39.
