To provide a transfer device capable of solving a problem such as insufficiency of transfer efficiency, center blanking of transfer and uneven density when concurrently using a corona charge system and a contact or proximate charge system.
The transfer device 17 includes: a body to be transferred 10 arranged opposed to a plurality of image carriers 40 (YMCK) which are charged by any of corona-charge type and contact or proximate-charge type charging members 20 (YMCK) and on which toner images of different colors are respectively formed; and a plurality of transfer means 18 (YMCK) which come into press-contact with the respective image carriers through the body to be transferred and also form transfer parts between the respective image carriers and the body to be transferred. The transfer device 17 transfers the toner images formed on the respective image carriers to the body to be transferred at the respective transfer parts. In the transfer device 17, the transfer condition for the transfer means corresponding to the image carriers 40 (YMC) charged by the contact or proximate-charge type charging members 20 (YMC) is set to be different from the transfer condition of the transfer means to the image carrier 40K charged by the corona-charge type charging member 20K.
