By advancing a side pusher 3 in a first direction on a first route passing through a first zone 11 of a heat treatment furnace and a waiting position, a tray is pressed against a flat head 8A of an opposed pusher 8 and the opposed pusher 8 is reversed to a reversing end once. Thereafter, the side pusher 3 is moved to a reversing end in a second direction reverse to the first direction, and by advancing the opposed pusher 8 to a forward end, a tray is positioned in a waiting position. By advancing a main pusher 5 on a second route running through the waiting position and the second zone and across the first route, the tray is guided by a flat head and moved to a second zone 12.
