An RTP-packetizing section 83 collects TS packets to which error correction parity data are attached by an error correction attachment section 82 into a preset number, attaches an RTP header to the collected TS packets, sequentially assigns the sequence numbers incremented by one, each to the TS packets to produce RTP packets and supplies them to a MAC frame processing section 84. Thus, an error correction section 984 uses the received RTP packets, on the basis of the sequence numbers of the RTP packets, to carry out error corrections, thereby recovering packets missing in a communication path. The present invention is applicable to transmitting / receiving systems for transmitting / receiving AV data through radio communication.
