Title:
TRANSOLEFIN-BASED DIOL HAVING SURFACTANT CHARACTERISTIC
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH11349503
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain the subject composition useful for paints, etc., by introducing the trans isomer of a specific olefin-based diol to reduce an equilibrium surface tension.

This trans olefin-based diol having surfactant characteristics contains (A) an organic compound and an effective amount of (B) the trans isomer of a trans-based diol for reducing an equilibrium surface tension. The said diol is expressed by the formula (R1 to R4 are each a 1-9C alkyl and the sum number of C atoms of the said dial is 12-17). The equilibrium surface tension of the said composition is preferably 50 dyne/cm or less within the solubility limit of the said diol. The sum number of carbon atoms in the said diol is preferably brought to 14-16. The said diol is preferably obtained, e.g. by reducing an acetylene diol using a heterogeneous catalyst.
