Abstract:

PURPOSE: To commercially mass-produce a transparent glass-ceramic article having clarity and capable of obtaining proper thermal expansion coefficient.

CONSTITUTION: This article has the linear coefficient of thermal expansion of <10×10-7/°C, includes β-quartz solid solution and is crystallized at a job site from a reducing precursor glass article substantially constituted of 2.5 to 5% Li2O, 1 to 2% MgO, 18 to 30% Al2O3, 2 to 4% TiO2, 1 to 4% ZrO2, 48 to 70% SiO2, 1 to 12% P2O5 and 0 to 2% ZnO. The glass is reduced by including proper quantity of a hydrogen-containing phosphate, Ti2O3, chlorine, or the mixture of the hydrogen-containing phosphate and Ti2O3 in a glass.
