Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traveling system for a self-propelled tea garden maintenance machine equipped with the main traveling device between ridges on one side and a subordinate side vehicle device between ridges on the other side, designed to conduct the space control and tilt control of the subordinate side vehicle device relative to the main traveling device smoothly and properly while the machine is in a traveling mode.
SOLUTION: This traveling system has such scheme that the main traveling device 1 designed to travel through being driven by a prime mover 14 and a subordinate side vehicle device 3 are set up between ridges on one side astride the tea tree ridges and between ridges on the other side, respectively. The transverse frame portion of a gate-shaped machine frame 2 supported on both the main traveling device 1 and the subordinate side vehicle device 3 is designed to be stretchable in the ridge width direction of the tea tree ridges, and the gate-shaped machine frame 2 is mounted with a tea leaves maintenance device 4 (picker). The subordinate side vehicle device 3 supports a caster-type side wheel 31 revolvably around a vertical axis and is equipped with a driving source 33 giving the side wheel 31 a torque and a transmission mechanism 34, and there is provided a change-over means (e.g. cam, switching mechanism) applying rotary driving force to the side wheel 31 from the driving source 33 via the transmission mechanism 34 only when the advancing direction of the side wheel 31 comes nearly in parallel with the main traveling device 1.
