PURPOSE: To provide the treatment method for nitrogen oxide which enables the use of a hydrocarbon lower in grade than methane, etc., as a reducing gas in a selective reductic method and can make reduction treatment of nitrogen oxide (this treatment eventually leads to removing and purifying of exhaust gases) simply by constituting an apparatus as a simple and small-sized apparatus in spite of use for, for example, a combustion apparatus for household and to provide the treatment device for the nitrogen oxide which adopts this method.
CONSTITUTION: A compd. consisting essentially of silicoaluminophosphate (SAPO) subjected to an ion exchange with at least ≥1 kinds of the metals selected from zinc(Zn), zirconium(Zr) and yttrium(Y) is used as a catalyst and the hydrocarbon is used as the reducing gas. A catalyst reaction section 6 disposed with the compd. and a supply means for simultaneously supplying the nitrogen oxide to be treated and the hydrocarbon to this catalyst reaction section 6 are provided as the device. Further, the catalyst reaction section 6 is provided with a heat insulating means 8.
