Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a medicine useful for treating and preventing AIDS by administering the medicine by oral, transrectal or lymphangial administration by including a specific tetracycline compound in a free base, a salt or a hydrated form as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION: This medicine includes a compound of the formula R1 and R2 are each H, OH or CH3 , or form methylene by bonding each other; R3 is a carbamoyl [substituted by (1-pyrrolidinyl)methyl], etc.; R4 is H or dimethylamino; R5 is H or OH} in a free base, a salt or a hydrated form. The daily dosage is 0.1-4g for a person in a case of an oral administration. The medicine has merits of a long half-life of several hours to 18 hours.
