Abstract:
To provide a method of enhancing operation of an aircraft and a method of manufacturing a wing that are capable of improving aerodynamic efficiency by maintaining a laminar flow under cruise conditions while handling worst-case conditions without increasing a weight of the wing.SOLUTION: Low-drag design conditions for minimizing drag are identified for an airplane where a laminar flow 302 is targeted. Transition positions for a laminar flow 302 to a turbulent flow 306 are predicted for each design condition. The most downstream transition position is determined therefrom. A manufacturing method is determined to dispose a trip device 108 immediately after the most downstream position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
