PURPOSE: To contrive an improvement of accuracy of dimensions by eliminating deflection of a grinding wheel by a device which presses a pair of slidable dressing sticks against both sides of the grinding wheel for grinding, by measuring the deflection of the sides of the grinding wheel by a gap sensor after setting of a thin blade grinding wheel on a machine.
CONSTITUTION: As for truing of a grinding wheel, a deflection of a circumference of the grinding wheel is trued and at the same time a contact face between sticks 8 and a grinding wheel is formed by securing traveling stands 13 and 14 on a base 10 so as to make the dressing sticks 8 touch each other and a contact part of the sticks 8 is cut off over supply of water on the contact part. When the deflection of the grinding wheel is large this cutting off is repeated. Then, the base 10 is set so that the sticks 8 touch the sides of the grinding wheel, and the traveling stands are made to move freely by removing fixing bolts 15 and 16 of the traveling stands. Simultaneously with the truing of the side of the grinding wheel to be done by rotating the grinding wheel at low speed over supply of cooling water under this condition, the deflection of the grinding wheel is measured by a gap sensor 9 and the truing is kept continued until the deflection of the grinding wheel comes to a fixed value.
