To provide a tubular structure comprising amorphous aluminum silicate having excellent properties of rapidly adsorbing and desorbing various substances and to inexpensively provide an adsorbent comprising tubular amorphous aluminum silicate excellent in adsorbing ability and affinity for water or ion exchange ability because of high surface activity, and having a large specific surface area and numerous micropores.
In the method for manufacturing the tubular structure comprising amorphous aluminum silicate having micropores, an inorganic silicon compound solution is mixed with an inorganic aluminum compound solution to form a precursor of tubular aluminum silicate, and in order to inhibit growth of the precursor in the following heating process, the ion concentration of the precursor solution is increased or a shortened heating time or a lowered heating temperature is adopted as a reaction condition in the heating process. The resulting tubular structure is applicable to an autonomously humidity controlling material, a fuel storage material, a quick-drying desiccating agent, a harmful contaminant adsorbent, etc.
