To provide a typical electrophotographic printing process in which a photoconductive member is initially charged to a substantially uniform potential, and the charged portion of the photoconductive member is exposed to a light image of a manuscript being reproduced, wherein in apparatuses arranged across the whole width of the imaging surface of the photoconductive member, uniform responses along the whole apparatuses are desirable.
A vibratory energy producing element for generating vibratory energy and a transducer 300 having a waveguide member coupled to the vibratory energy producing element are provided. The waveguide member transmits the vibratory energy, has a longitudinal axis, and is divided along the axis into a plurality of waveguide segments 322. Each waveguide segment 322 has approximately equal size and shape. The transducer is tuned by altering a mass of at least one of the waveguide members relative to a mass of the other waveguide members.
